Outdoor Trend: Garden Gnome Village

One of the largest trends we are starting to see is the addition of gnome and fairy villages to homes and gardens.  These adorable, quaint towns can easily be brought into your home as a decorative accent or placed on the patio or in the garden. Whether you are looking for a unique touch to your existing garden or have an empty space in your backyard that needs to be filled, creating your own gnome village can be one of the easiest ways to add a decorative touch.

Children and adults alike will love creating their own gnome village. The Gnome Sweet Home is actually two pieces, the home itself and the roof. If this adorable set will not fit in the area you have created, each piece can individual be purchased as well so you can create your own unique village set. Maybe using a few walls, and additional gnomes will allow your own village to be created.

The first Gnome was actually created sometime around the 1800’s in Germany and was made out of Clay.  It wasn’t until 1840 that the first known Gnome was seen in England.  It is said that the idea of gnomes may have actually come from miners who were often very short due to the small areas in which they were required to work. During the 1960’s a few companies started making plastic gnomes and Gnomes started popping up everywhere.  Gnomes started to die off but were brought back in many homes with the introduction of famous movies and comical characters in the media. When placed in a home, Gnomes are said to bright the owner good luck! Gnomes are also said to bring wisdom and happiness to many.
